Enrichment Activities
Thursday, 30 June 2011 15:08The College has provided a vast array of enrichment trips, visits and activities which enable students to apply their learning and which definitely enhance their college experience.
Some recent examples: The Geography students are out on a trip to Hartshill Hayes on Wednesday morning for an interesting and enjoyable educational walk through the woods led by Mrs Phillips. I wish I could be there with you! Mr Hicking is taking students to Leicester University for the day.
I hope that David, Vanessa, Clare, Sarah, Amy, Max, Lewis, Ian, Jack, Michelle, Jess and Jacob find this trip informative in helping them decide what to look for in a University and also come back enthused about the prospect of undergraduate study and the life changing experience that Universities provide.
Well done to Miss Patel’s group for winning the trip to Drayton Manor for their charity fund raising efforts. I am relying on Joseph, Kate P, Olivia, Ben, Matthew, Luke, Alex, Jagjeet, Steven, James, Jake, Daniel, Jessica, Alexandra, Kate M, Adelicia, Ellie and Emily to make sure she gets on all of the scarier rides!
Let’s get Physical! Also on Wednesday Mrs Hawthorn is taking students on a Physics Trip to the Rutherford-Appleton Laboratory near Didcot, in Oxfordshire. Shaun, Joshua Joshua Steven Siobhan Kennon Joe Daniel George Sam Adam Sudeep Alex Matthew Joanna I hope the laboratories stir your imagination and the industrial applications inspire you to want to work in this field.
On Tuesday 35 Health and social Care students enjoyed their visit to George Eliot hospital led by Mrs King . As usual our students were well behaved and were a credit to us all.
Check the web site for pictures taken on Wednesday of the students involved in the 2010-11 Community Enrichment projects in order to raise funds for a defibrillator. Mrs Morris will be joined by a guest Mr David White, Youth Volunteering Manager (reVOLve) and her volunteers in presenting their cheque to a representative from HeartbeatUk. Particular thanks to Sophie Ellen Catherine Sophie Sarah Sophie and Danielle for your contributions and efforts in raising money for such a worthy cause.
My thanks to you all and Mrs Morris for all that you have done this year.
