Introduction
This is a shortened course designed for those who do not yet hold a C grade in English or English Language. The main examination is taken at the beginning of June.
Please note that the requirement for students to study either ‘English’ or to take both ‘English Language’ and ‘English Literature’ does not apply to Post-16 students, so we offer only English Language.
We will study a range of types of language, including spoken forms as well as written, which will develop students’ analytical and communicative skills. We
will also study one literacy text as the focus for one of the Controlled Assessments.
Further Details
This qualification is essential for entry to Higher Education and professional careers and is therefore compulsory for all college students who do not hold a GCSE grade C or above in English or English Language.
Progression Options
Successful students may be able to access AS Levels which require GCSE Grade C in English Language.
