Introduction
Students will study the performing arts through a series of practical core units as well as a number of speciality units enabling them to explore specific disciplines within the industry. This could include: children’s theatre, classical theatre, physical theatre etc. The Creative Arts is one of the most vibrant success stories of the UK economy in recent years and is one of the few areas which offer increasing employment opportunities. Additional optional units comprise the remainder of the course and allow the students some flexibility in their chosen study path.

This exciting course is designed for students who would like to study Performing Arts as part of a more varied programme – allowing students to take other A Levels at the same time. It is taught over 1 year with an option to obtain the subsidiary diploma in year 2. All Performing Arts courses are taught at the Abbey theatre in Nuneaton and students will have the opportunity to access work experience at the theatre. The nature of any performance course means that there will be times when you are expected to work in a team outside normal college hours.
This course can be taken alongside our other A Level’s and BTEC’s to create a full performance or Arts based package.
Progression Options
Progression could lead to the Subsidiary Diploma in year 2; it may also be possible for the more motivated students to pick up additional modules through outside experience and independent working to gain a higher qualification such as the 90 credit Diploma.
