Introduction
This is a coursework based subject that allows the student to study key areas of law such as employment and criminal law. Key areas are studied both from a theory and practice perspective. There are some mandatory topics that are essential for any law student to understand such as the concepts of law making and legal liability, however, in the second year the student may select certain optional topics that they are interested in, examples being unlawful homicide, police powers, and contract law. It is very much a vocational qualification and will help students to prepare for the workplace in the field of law
Further Details
The Student will be expected to be an independent learner who is motivated and will put in many hours of work outside of the guided teaching time.
Progression Options
The course is mostly aimed at preparing students for the workforce and is aimed at giving students both the academic and practical experience of law. The course will also allow students to go on to study at Higher Education, as well as a career in law, it is useful for careers in journalism, marketing, public relations, teaching, business and government.
