Introduction
King Edward VI College is excited to be offering the new Sports Academy from September 2012. The College Rugby Union Academy is a development scheme dedicated to rugby training and education.
The Rugby Academy is to be run in partnership with Nuneaton Rugby Football Club. Students on the Academy will receive daily training from experienced RFU Level 2 and 3 qualified coaches. The College Rugby Academy team will play on Wednesday afternoons, whilst individual players have the opportunity to play for Nuneaton Colts Youth team.
Competitions Entered
King Edward VI College will enter the British Colleges Sport (BCS) National Knockout Cup, BCS West Midlands Rugby league, BCS West Midlands Regional Championships as well as playing friendlies against regional schools and colleges. Trials are held for West Midlands representation with students having the possibility of being selected for the BCS England team.
What Training is Involved?
Daily individual training and team coaching. Individual player assessments and development. Individual fitness profiling. Diet and nutrition. National Governing body coaching and refereeing qualifications. League fixtures and National Cup competitions.
Trials
Trials will be taking place during the summer term.
