Introduction
Have you ever wanted to work behind the scenes in theatre, learning more about the technical side behind the scenes. This could be the course for you. Based in a real working theatre the course can teach you about lighting and sound technology using some of the latest state of the art technology. Throughout the course you will work on a dynamic range of productions alongside drama and performing arts students and also possible collaborations with film and media students and music/ music technology students. The Creative Arts is one of the most vibrant success stories of the UK economy in recent years and is one of the few areas which offer increasing employment opportunities. Additional optional units comprise the remainder of the course and allow the students some flexibility in their chosen study path.

This course provides vocational training and relevant work experience the nature of Technical Theatre work means that you will be expected to put in some work outside of normal college hours. This can be studied as part of your programme alongside other subjects. You may wish to combine courses to build your own creative package you could include this course with Drama and Theatre Studies, Film Studies, Media Studies, Music Technology and many more combinations. Students can also take AS Level Communications and Culture and undertake an extended project to enhance their studies.
Progression Options
Learners could go on to study at Higher Education at University or Drama School as well as gaining some important life skills that are important skills for employment both in and out of the Performing Arts Sector.
