Introduction
This new course is vocationally based and complements other courses on offer in our highly successful Media and Film department. Learners will get practical hands on experience including use of camera, directing, editing, music video production, stop-motion computer animation. As well as studying the practical workings of the film and television industry. You will also form part of a unique production team and involved in work experience with industry professionals and college sponsored corporate events. There is also an opportunity to work with drama and music students to collaborate in your productions. We have a dedicated Apple Mac Media suite as well as specialist editing equipment and a Music Recording suite. Students will also get the opportunity to work alongside HND students on their productions. Film and Media students are offered the opportunity to take part in our annual residential trip to the Edinburgh Film Festival.
Further Details
This can be studied as part of your programme alongside other subjects. You may wish to combine courses to build your own creative package you could include this course with Drama and Theatre Studies, Film Studies, Music Technology and many more combinations. Students can also take AS Level Communications and Culture and undertake an extended project to enhance their studies.
Progression Options
Learners could go on to study at University or a Higher National Certificate at King Edward College as well as gaining some important skills for employment both in and out of the Performing Arts Sector. It may be possible to progress onto the Subsidiary Diploma in Year 2.
