Introduction
This one-year programme follows the WJEC syllabus and may be taken up by any student who wishes to gain a GCSE qualification in a modern language, or to add to their language qualifications. A modern language at GCSE level is now a requirement in a growing number of universities for degrees in subjects such as English, History, Law or Economics.
Further Details
GCSE Spanish can combine well with any other subjects on the curriculum as it is a skills-based qualification. To be successful in Spanish, you will need to be committed to the subject, prepared to work fast and follow up lesson time with a good deal of independent study.
Progression Options
Students who are successful at GCSE level may wish to continue to the AS level in their second year. This can lead to some further study of Spanish in Higher Education. GCSE Spanish will help support a career in a wide range of areas, including those in the Business and Travel sectors.
